The response to the Humboldt Broncos deaths has been met with support across the world with almost 130,000 people chipping in to support the players and families affected by the crash.
But not Ezra Levant and Rebel Media. In an email sent on Sunday morning which was first reported by Twitter user @ThatsMrNeil, Levant used the deaths of the Humboldt Broncos hockey players to sell Rebel Media memberships.
No, this isn’t a joke.
Instead of supporting the players and the families, Ezra Levant and Rebel Media decided to profit off of a national tragedy. Ezra even includes a “Broncos coupon code” to get 20% off a Rebel membership.
He goes on to shill for his fellow hosts, including John Cardillo, who previously defended a Republican accused of pedophilia and helped spread a conspiracy theory blaming Antifa for the Sutherland Springs shooting.

This isn’t the first time Rebel Media has tried to profit off of national tragedies.
In 2017 Rebel Media was caught fundraising off of the Quebec shooting massacre, as well as spreading fake news about the attacker, implying it was a Muslim and not Alexandre Bissonnette. These claims were unsubstantiated and completely false.
Ex-Rebel correspondent Caolan Robertson claimed that Rebel Media regularly lied about their fundraising numbers, and used excess crowdfunding dollars promised for specific causes to pay company expenses.
And in an exclusive story from North99, we uncovered how Rebel Media also engaged in fundraising for far-right organizations that are trying to undermine abortion rights.
Rebel Media is also closely connected to Conservative leader Andrew Scheer. He appeared on the website numerous times, including granting an interview to accused white supremacist Faith Goldy, and his campaign manager Hamish Marshall was, until recently, a director at Rebel Media.
