Deputy Conservative leader claimed global warming doesn’t cause extreme weather. That’s wrong, says climate scientist.
Conservative leader Lisa Raitt was accused of sharing inaccurate information about climate change, arguing global warming does not cause extreme weather.
The tweet has since been deleted, but a screenshot still is available.
Raitt’s tweet was immediately criticized online, with many social media users pointing out the article was written by a man from Fraser Institute.
The Fraser Institute is a far-right libertarian think tank funded by the American dark money from individuals like the Koch brothers.
A climate scientist took to Twitter to explain why Raitt’s tweet was inaccurate:
Lisa eventually deleted the tweet, without explaining why she posted it in the first place. She issued a follow-up tweet that did not deny her previous statement.
