Tell the government to bailout workers, not Big Oil

Oil prices are at record lows.

Lobbyists for big oil and gas corporations and their politician friends are using this moment as an opportunity to get ANOTHER massive bailout.

In 2018, they got a $1.8 billion bailout with oil prices much higher than they are today. That didn’t stop them from laying off workers, winding down investment, and continuing to give executives massive salaries. [1] Throwing money at a dying industry won’t bring it back to life.

Now they want a $15 billion bailout! With institutional investors swearing off Alberta oil and low prices set to become the new normal, this bailout for corporations will do nothing. [2]

Instead of propping up the oil industry, the bailout money should go to support laid-off energy workers. It should go to investing in renewable energy that will employ those workers.

Sign the petition and tell the federal government to stop the bailout to Big Oil and instead support workers.
