Stop the Rogers-Shaw Merger, Prevent Wireless Price Hikes

Rogers is planning to buy up Shaw Communications in a $20 billion cash deal. [1] The merger would mean less competition, more power to fewer players, and inevitably higher prices for us consumers.

Canada’s telecom sector is already an oligopoly owned by the “Big 3.”  Every time they gobble up their competition, we see price hikes for us and bigger profits for them.

But we do have an opportunity to stop this. The acquisition needs regulatory approval from the Canadian government.[2] With enough pressure we can push them to block this predatory deal.

We already pay some of the highest prices for internet and wireless. If we don’t stop the telecom oligopoly now, it’s only going to get worse. Sign the petition and tell the government to stop the Rogers-Shaw merger!
