Tell Trudeau: Make the COVID-19 Emergency Benefit universal for everyone

The Canadian Emergency Response Benefit was supposed to help Canadians impacted by job and income losses during COVID-19. But the current criteria potentially leaves millions of Canadians unable to pay their bills.

1 million students in university, people collecting disability benefits, part-time workers, people with two jobs who lose one and people’s income that is reduced to almost zero could all not qualify.[1]

The simplest solution is to expand CERB to everyone. Those who don’t need it will have the money taken back in taxes in 2021. There is still time to fix the bill. The government is making changes in real-time. But it’s critical enough people speak out.
